How to photograph a menu for accurate translation
A good translation starts with a readable source. Use this checklist before uploading a restaurant menu, especially when the room is dark or the menu is glossy.

2. Keep the phone parallel
Hold the camera directly above or in front of the page. A steep angle stretches letters on one side and compresses them on the other. Rest your elbows on the table if your hands shake.
3. Move the glare, not the menu text
Tilt the menu or move the phone slightly until ceiling lights no longer cover words or prices. Turning off the flash often helps with laminated menus. Use the phone flash only when it creates even light without a bright reflection.
4. Check the smallest text
Before uploading, zoom in on the smallest price or menu name. If you cannot read it on the phone, the analyzer may not read it either. Retake the photo closer instead of relying on digital zoom.
5. Use the right file
Traveler Menu accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP images. Crop unrelated table space, hands, faces, payment cards, and personal documents out of the frame. Do not upload a video or a screenshot that has been repeatedly compressed.
